Our family has been coming to the Polka Fireworks for the 35 years plus – stat to come for a day with my inlaws, Steve and Jean Pigza for one day and then reserved a chalet – Chalet 14 was ours for at least 35 years. Last year was the first time we did not stay in the chalet – they became unaffordable for the family. A lot of our friends and neighblrs would come up for a day or two and spend the time in the chalet – Our children played in the soft ball games and our daughter Laura ‘s team were the champs – Our chalet were the toga group the one year – I remember our kids brought a lot of friends that year and they had a b last. We celebrated birthdays – anniversaries – and anything you could think of. Jean and Steve have passed away – but we kept the tradition – my husband Joe joined his parents 3 years now and we are still trying to keep the tradition going with our grandchildren – I don’t know how much longer we will be coming up for the polka fireworks as we all miss staying in the chalets. I remember dancing at the halls and then by the chalets until the sun came up – those were the good old days. Thank you for all the great years of polka dancing and all the friends we have made.
Like a warm, cuddle blanket or the well-loved, well-worn teddy bear…those which are always there to comfort you…this is the Polka Fireworks festival for many! It sounds odd- however, we know things change and progress- yet there is still something about Polkas in the “Pennsylvania Hills” that forever feels like home! No matter the changes each past year may have seen – Polka Fireworks – is always highly anticipated and the excitement only builds to see what new memories will be made; what new friends will be greeted; and especially, what legacies will continue to live on!
I can not remember a better place – to celebrate my birthday in style- Polka style – that is…Even at a young age, when other friends would be planning trips to the Jersey beach or local entertainment venues for their birthdays…I was planning our annual family trip to Polka Fireworks! School friends planned sweet sixteen parties with d.j.s and rented party halls or had pool parties in their backyard or even, sleepovers…instead, I polka-partied all day by the pool and all night in the dance halls, chalets and even guest rooms with the great sounds of polka music filling every inch of the mountain air.
Laughter, smiles and toe-tapping fun were hard to contain – at any hour on the clock – and dancing feet, could not resist the call of that lively beat – regardless of your location! Fun and frolic still abound at this great place to enjoy family, friends and the music – all of which, we love deep down into our souls.
This enduring love of music has been passed down from generation to generation. Even today, as we observe, at Polka Fireworks – young children begin their delightful dancing steps on – what to them seems an endless – dance floor. As well as witnessing, those young, passionate proteges begin their musical journey along the timeless polka-road…by creating and entertaining for all-age audiences throughout the resort. Creating fun, now, for our young polka enthusiasts to enjoy, is, important. However, the true rewards are reaped in the future – as those youngsters grow into our polka promoters, dancers and musicians that will continue to carry on this melodic torch of such sweet harmony!
Thank you to EVERYONE whose contributions – many or few – have brought us to 40 years of Polka Fireworks! Sincere appreciation for those dedicated, helping-hands working to create a treasure trove of wonderful memories for families and friends to cherish for eternity!
Thank you to ALL of the musicians for sharing their tremendous talents, and to their families and friends for allowing their talents to be shared- bringing great joy to all of us in attendance year after year! God gives each of us talents to share with the world – it is up to us to make the choices to share them with each other!
Thank you, again!
